East Sheen Primary School cooking event

East Sheen Primary School is a two form entry school in Richmond Upon Thames educating children between the ages of four and eleven. The school is well known for its community and family ethos as well as its high standards of education. The school is rated as outstanding by OFSTED.

Over the last five years the school has been committed to making a real difference to children’s lives through their understanding of eating good healthy food. East Sheen primary was the first in the borough to opt out of the local authority catering contract and employ their own contractors who provide freshly cooked food by a qualified chef.

The school also has a kitchen garden and provides seasonal vegetables for the school chef to include in meal provision. They has been awarded the silver ‘Food For Life’ mark.

In September 2010 a new pupils teaching kitchen was opened. This stunning provision provides for both pupils and the wider community. It has proved to be a resounding success and is in daily use.
